How can I fix a frozen pipe safely without causing damage?

You can safely thaw a frozen pipe by turning off the water, opening nearby faucets, and warming the pipe slowly with a hair dryer or heating pad. Do not use an open flame. Start warming closest to the faucet to let melted ice drain.

  • Shut off the main water valve.
  • Open hot and cold taps to relieve pressure.
  • Warm the pipe with a hair dryer, heating pad, or warm towels.
  • Use a space heater to warm the room if needed.
  • Check for leaks; if it bursts, keep water off and call us.
  • Service available in Provo, Orem, and Lindon.
